Jazz is a dying breed of music. Pianist Keith Jarrett —whose bands of the 1970s had played solely unique compositions with distinguished free jazz elements—established his so-called ‘Requirements Trio’ in 1983, which, although also often exploring collective improvisation, has primarily performed and recorded jazz requirements. Jazz music expressed in a Latin interpretation was termed Bossa Nova with origins in Samba music which is a mix of Jazz, classical and pop music from the 20th century.
